Here's another layout I created with this month's DT kit.

I've had these pictures printed out for while now and just have never used them and I was really inspired by the colors of embellishments in this kit so I decided to use them together in a cluster on this page.

For this layout, I used the same scallop circle paper and just cut the numbers off and used the half circle for my title. The tiny letters are those awesome micro monogram alphabets and the glittery letters are blue vinyl thickers with some stickles glitter glue added on top.

I wrote my journaling on a strip of multi-colored pattern paper.

My embellishment cluster has lots of fun things to look at. The brown flowers were cream to begin with and I sprayed them with brown glimmer mist and they are so sparkly in real life. I used XL white brads for their centers. The centers of the green flowers are just simple white pearls. I also added some of the brown chipboard buttons, lace and a single blue flower cut from the bloomer strand. You can also see the white heart stick pin that I attached to the fabric at the base of the blue flower.

The calendar card was a great accent to use for my layout. I added some more of the tiny monogram stickers for the year and circled the date.

Here's one of the layouts I created with this kit:

I love the textured dot paper and this comes in so many pretty colors. I loved the pop the red gave to these photos, so I used it as my base. I cut the printed circle die cut paper in half so I could use it on multiple projects. And I lined up my similar photos to the left of the scallop circle. My title was added with the micro monogram stickers...those tiny stickers are SOOO cool! I loved being able to spell out words without them being so large on my layout. I also used them to add the date at the top. And these turquoise flowers are so pretty on the layout. I cut one off the roll to use by itself and added two of the country flowers to accent it. I love how they work to accent my title.

For my journaling, I just hand wrote it on the scallop paper over the printed area. I like how it's not too obvious, but you can still read the words and see the pattern too. Definitely a quick and easy layout!

Getting Sketchy!

I love working with sketches!  There are so many ways to get inspired by a sketch.

Here's another great one by Cheri O'Neill from Lets Scrap that she drew for us to use over at Memorable Seasons.

Here's my finished layout:

I ended up changing things around a little bit to work with all my photos I wanted to use, so my photos ended up in places where there were accents on the sketch. I did use the stitching as inspiration for the stitched edges on my layout. 

And instead of putting the buttons/circles along those stitch marks, I put mine scattered among the photos. You can also see the top flap of the envelope pocket that I cut off and used above my main photo.

 My title also was inspired by the sketch...started with the main title in larger letters, then my sub titles in smaller letters underneath.

Hand Stitching Challenge--Blanket Stitch

This week is my week to host the challenge over at Memorable Seasons. 

My challenge is to hand stitch on your layout. I have done the basic straight stitching before but this was the first time I tried the blanket stitch and I'm in LOVE!! For the challenge, you can use any type of stitch, but I wanted to try something new.

Here's my sample layout:

And here's how to create this stitch:

On my layout, I didn't put the blanket stitching just along the edges...I actually cut into my paper with an exacto knife to make a straight edge in the middle of my paper so the continuous line of thread would be more visible. Above the cut line, I punched holes to create the little points of the blanket stitch.

I had already used the August calendar that came in the set of calendar cards, so I created one for my layout by stamping the calendar word on cream cardstock then cutting it out and attaching it to the card with two blue brads. And yes, I goofed and didn't use a calendar that had 31 days in the month to work for August. oops! :)

I added glitter stickers under the stamped part of the title along with a yellow stamped line border and some flowers.

Here is a closer look at my stamped title. Usually I would use markers to create a multi-colored image, but I was at a crop when I made this layout and didn't have my markers with me, so I stamped the image three times with the three colors, then cut out the words in the different colors and pieced them together. You can hardly see the lines and this was a really quick way to get a custom colored stamp image.

I loved the colors of this lacquered floral paper, so that's where I got the color inspiration for this whole layout. I rounded the corners and added some turquoise ribbon and similar colors for my title to pull it all together.

This layout was made for a weekly challenge over at Memorable Seasons. Detta asked us to use at least 3 tags on a layout, so I created this page:

The main part of the layout was created with an assortment of different Dad and Daughter/Girl stickers. I just started piecing them together until they fit all the empty spaces. I've had these stickers FOREVER, so it felt really good to use a bunch of them. I love this photo of my husband and daughter together, so it was perfect for this layout.

The title was created by highlighting one of the main stickers with some gemstones. These were clear gems that I colored with a black sharpie marker. The tags were added under the red paper layer, since I adhered this to the tan base with the right side open to create a pocket. My daughter wrote on one tag to her daddy, my husband wrote on another one to her, and I wrote one to both of them. Love getting the different journaling perspectives!This photo also shows the black lines that I stamped around the red paper.

This one was really fun to create because I just used small strips of pattern paper and some journaling tags. I also added some buttons and the decorative strip was the end of one of pattern papers. I did add some stitching with my sewing machine and some charcoal ink for a bit of distressing along with a stamped title.

Just another quick layout to share this morning...

I wanted to keep this one pretty simple, so I just stamped the title words onto some scrap pieces of pattern paper, then cut them out. I traced over the black stamped lines with a white pen to help them stand out a bit more. The rest was just white pen journaling.

I have several layouts to share this week...

Today, I wanted to share this one. My son has some funny pronunciations for certain words and this was one of them. Instead of saying Hallelujah, he pronounces it as "ha-yea-you-ya". Cracks me up every time! :)

Cheerful Card Set

oops...found this post as a saved draft and figured it was better to post it now rather than never. :)

I have been in the card-making mood lately and who doesn't need a few extra cards on hand? I created this set to be versatile for guys or girls and I love how they turned out--so colorful and cheery!  All of these cards were created with leftover scraps from Studio Calico Anthology paper collection. I also used some Tim Holtz stamp sets and various stamps for the sayings.

For this first card, I stamped the sun rays with a dark yellow ink pad at the top of the yellow card base, then added the striped paper along the bottom with a blue section of paper and a red scalloped border. I stamped the saying and the stars, then punched it out with a decorative punch and added a green border.

I really like the look of the cut out letters, so for this next card, I mixed some of the red and blue letters together to create the saying for this card. The letters were cut out from the pattern paper. I also added some stamped stars and a punched star with a sequin. Great way to use up some scraps!

This next card was another quick one to create. I added a yellow section of paper over the floral patterned background, then punched a scalloped border and layered a skinny stripe on top. The circle was punched from the pattern paper and then I added the cut out number and letter with foam squares.

This card used one larger piece of striped paper (several patterns on the single piece of paper). All I did was border it on the right with a punched stripe paper. The saying was stamped onto white cardstock, with the star stamped on top, and punched out with a SU label punch, inked with blue ink and layered onto another punched shape.

For this card, I used the striped paper as-is and only punched the top edge with a scalloped border. Then I wrapped some ribbon and lace around it before I glued it down to the card. I used a circle punch to create the train focal point, inked the edges with red ink and a sponge, and then added the "miss you" tiny letters at the bottom.

This card was another quick one to use up some more scraps. I rounded the edges of the gray and blue papers, then glued them down onto the blue card base. The saying was stamped onto white cardstock, punched with a ticket punch, and the cardstock was distressed to match the gray colors. I also added silver star sequins.

 

This last card is a gift card holder. The entire background is a piece of gray printed paper that I stapled the cream strip onto. I stamped the cream strip with an ink splatter stamp, then created the card saying with stamps and punches. I used the Tim Holtz Tiny attacher stapler to hold all the layers down--love that thing! And the gift card just slips underneath the cream paper.
